Appoints New Senior Executive in charge of Project Finance
Geo Genesis Group Limited, an advisory and investment company focussed on China and other emerging markets, has appointed Joëlle Mekers as Senior Managing Director and Head of Project Finance.
Ms. Mekers has more than 15 years experience in corporate finance, principally in the project and structured finance arena. She has considerable experience in complex cross-border limited resource financing, leveraged acquisitions and restructuring, having assisted corporations in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Ms. Mekers was most recently Senior Vice President and Head of Loan Markets Americas at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (`CBA') in New York, responsible for its business development strategy, resulting in numerous high profile deals across sectors such as infrastructure, utilities, mining and finance. Prior to this she served as a Lead Executive with CBA in Sydney, Australia, where she was responsible for coverage of media and telecommunications activities in Australia and New Zealand, providing structure and pricing analysis on transactions ahead of underwriting activities.
Other positions Ms. Mekers has held include Head of Asia-Pacific Media & Telecommunications Group within the Bank of America, Hong Kong, where her achievements included the co-ordination of Japan's largest leveraged financing to date, valued at Yen140 billion (US$1.2 bn), for the largest cable TV and broadband services operator in Japan.
